As we have made it all the way through the alphabet, we are starting over. This time, we will have a theme week – not just anything starting with the weekly letter.
Our first week began with Art and Artists. Grace was able to work with four different mediums, in addition to her usual crayons, markers, and colored pencils. Her other love is in Mixed Media – using as many mediums as possible on one work of art.
This is tempera finger paint on mixed media paper.
Grace wasn’t too thrilled to paint with her fingers at first. It took Brian and I convincing her that art is supposed to be messy for her to truly have fun with this project.

Piet Mondrian: Tableau I, 1921
Grace’s version is on a 12″ x 12″ canvas board, tempera paint, and black duct tape.
Grace wasn’t much interested in leaving any areas white.
Vincent Van Gogh: The Starry Night
I drew the basic shapes on the black construction paper with white glue. When it was dried, Grace used oil pastels to add in the colors.
Claude Monet: Water Lilies, 1906
This is watercolor on watercolor paper.
